Sembra che quando parliamo di diversità tendiamo alle  cose che non possiamo vedere. Un totale di 9 milioni di persone di tutte le età nel Regno Unito con sordità che va da lieve a profonda, cioè uno su sette della popolazione. Molto frustrante. Si è sentito di persone respinte nella carrier a per nuila più che barriere comunicative  che incontrano quando la loro menomazione diviene manifesta. Il linguaggio dei segni è stato un modo che molte persone hanno usato per ovviare alla loro menomazione uditiva. Questo poster grafico è stato creato fotografando lettere di una mano sola nel linguaggio dei segni britannico, che si leggono SUITABLE (ADATTO), e poi manipolandole con colore usando Photoshop. Abbracciando le disabilità attraveso le arti visive, questo mio lavoro incoraggia le persone a ripensare al fatto che il loro udito e sistema di comunicazione può essere una barriera. È necessario che apriamo le menti ristrette che ancora ci sono, e renderle coscienti; siamo tutti uguali, non c’è differenza tra te e me, tutti abbiamo la capacità di riuscire!

SUITABLE

It seems that when we talk about diversity we tend to dismiss the things we cannot see. A total of 9 million people of all ages in the UK with deafness ranging from mild to profound - that’s 1 in 7 of the population. Frustratingly, It has been known for individuals to be turned away from careers for nothing more than the communication barrier they face once their impairment became apparent. Sign language has been a way many individuals have used to overcome their hearing impairments. This graphic poster has been created by photographing letters in single-handed British Sign Language that read SUITABLE and then manipulated with colours using Photoshop. Embracing disabilities through visual arts this piece is to encourage people to rethink that their hearing and way of communicating may be a barrier. We need to open up the narrow minds that are still out there and make them aware; we are all equal, there is no difference between you and me, we all have the ability to succeed!
