La mia scultura evoca l’atmosfera creative e la profondità di emozioni e sentimenti che spesso è intrappolata all’interno del “guscio” del corpo di persone che convivono con la disabilità. la luce che brilla attraverso le maglie e decora le superfici all’intorno rappresenta l’abilità di molte persone malgrado come possano essere visti dal di fuori. Mi sono ispirata alla storia di un regista irlandese a cui cinque anni fa era stato diagnosticata la SLA. Malgrado fosse completamente paralizzato e capace soltanto di comunicare con gli occhi, ha recentemente diretto il suo primo film di fantasia, Il Mio Nome è Emily.

WITHOUT? WITHIN

My sculpture is evocative of the creative flair and depth of emotion and feeling that is often trapped within the ‘shell’ of the body of people living with disability. The light that shines through the stitches and decorates the surfaces around it represents the capability of many people despite how they might seem on the exterior. I was inspired by the story of an Irish filmmaker who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease five years ago. Despite being completely paralysed and only able to communicate with his eyes he recently directed his first feature film, My Name is Emily.
