BALLA

Per coloro che devono usare delle protesi agli arti inferiori, ho voluto creare un modello ispirato all’artista Giacomo Balla, uno dei massimi esponenti del Futurismo. Uno dei punti cardine del futurismo era il movimento, che nell’ambito di alcune disabilità è sicuramente uno dei problemi maggiori. Nel Manifesto era dichiarato l’intento di voler estendere l’estetica futurista a tutti gli ambiti della vita quotidiana in un’ottica di rinnovamento, perciò, per abbassare le barriere che incontrano le persone che hanno delle disabilità, ho voluto pensare al futuro di queste persone al fine di farle indossare protesi che avessero un motivo dinamico, colorato e luminoso per portare con sé la bellezza dell’arte italiana in ogni luogo. Indossare cose belle fa star bene. Spero che chi indosserà queste protesi sia invogliato a far qualche passo in più e voglia mostrare la propria diversità. Il titolo che ho scelto, “Balla”, vuole creare un collegamento fra l’artista cui mi sono ispirata e l‘imperativo del verbo ballare al fine di annullare le diversità fra le persone normodotate e quelle che non lo sono. Ogni individuo può ballare, che abbia gambe o protesi, non vi è alcuna differenza.

DANCE

For all those who have to use a prothesis for the lower limbs, i have created a model inspired to the artist Giacomo Balla, one of the main characters of Futurism. One of the key points of futurism was movement, which within some disabilities it is certainly one of the main problems. The Manifesto declared the intent to extend the futurist aesthetics to all aspects of daily life in a frame of mind of renovation, therefore, in order to lower barriers which people with disabilities come across, I have wanted to think of a future of these people aiming at them wearing a prosthesis with a dynamic aspect, colourful and full of light, in order to carry with themselves everywhere the beauty of Italian art. I hope that those who wear this prosthesis become willing to move a few further steps, and to show their diversity. The title I have chosen “Balla (in Italian “dance”) wants to create a link between the artist from whom I have drawn inspiration, and the imperative of the verb to dance, in order to eliminate diversities between able bodied and not able bodied persons. Everybody can dance, with legs of prosthesis, there is no difference.
