Disabilità & Autostima: Evoluzione storica e sociale

Dall’antichità al Medioevo, la disabilità è stata vista come segno negativo o occasione di pietà, annullando l’autostima. Nel Novecento raggiunge un apice tragico con la propaganda nazista. Oggi cambia la visione: design e comunicazione valorizzano la persona. Il Premio Eleanor Worthington invita gli studenti a rappresentare la disabilità come identità e forza.

Disability and Self-Esteem: Historical and social evolution

From antiquity to the Middle Ages, disability was seen as negative or pitiful, undermining self-esteem. In the 20th century it reached a tragic peak with Nazi propaganda. Today the view is changing: design and communication value the person. The Eleanor Worthington Prize invites students to represent disability as identity and strength, overcoming stigma and prejudice through inclusive images.
