Confidence is the key to freedom
L'elaborato riprende le caratteristiche e gli intenti dei poster sulla “Disability Awareness”, di per sé meravigliosi, ma spesso incentrati su un’unica forma di disabilità — quella motoria — come se fosse l’unica possibile, in un mondo invece fatto di infinite esperienze diverse. Nell’illustrazione la protagonista è felice di ciò che è, ma, stanca di essere paladina in pubblicità che sente non la rapresentano, esce dalla cornice del disegno per amarsi senza dover essere spiegata o giustificata.
Confidence is the key to freedom
The project draws on the features and aims of Disability Awareness posters, which are admirable in themselves but often focused on a single form of disability—physical disability—as if it were the only one, in a world shaped by countless different experiences. The protagonist is happy with who she is, yet, tired of being a token figure in advertisements that she feels do not truly represent her, she steps out of the frame to love herself without having to be explained or justified.
