Una riflessione sulla vita di mia sorella adottiva, che aveva un problema alla vista a causa di una lesione cerebrale, e sul fornire appagamento a qualcuno che non può farlo da solo. La Pietà astratta e luminosa rappresenta mia madre e le cure che ha prestato a mia sorella fino alla sua morte, e un riferimento alle luci colorate che amava guardare. Il bagliore interno e le lenzuola che creano le forme simboleggiano il caldo amore di una madre.
Love was Blind
A reflection on the life of my foster sister, who had a visual impairment from a brain injury, and providing fulfilment to someone who can’t do so themselves. The abstracted, glowing Pietà represents my mother and the care she gave my sister until her death, and a reference to the coloured lights she loved watching. The inner glow and bedsheets creating the forms symbolise a mother’s warm love.
