La mia concezione di questo dipinto ha un po' a che fare con me. Fisicamente, sono quasi diventato cieco dall'occhio sinistro da bambino. Quando avevo 19 anni, ho avuto un'operazione di miopia, durante la quale ho perso letteralmente la vista per pochi secondi, quindi ero vicino a diventare una persona disabile, e ho anche sentito un po' il loro dolore. Psicologicamente, da adulto, il fatto che io sia bravo solo a dipingere è un po' disfunzionale. La mia idea originale era di lasciare che il bambino tenesse un pennello in mano, il che significava che anche una persona così debole sarebbe diventata potente se avesse potuto disegnare. In seguito, ho pensato che dovesse essere legato all'innovazione tecnologica, quindi ho sostituito il pennello con un dispositivo high-tech a forma di cappello di anguria. E il cappello a cocomero è perché avevo i capelli a cocomero quando ero bambino.
HOW WE MAKE RAINBOWS
My conception of this painting has a little bit to do with me. Physically, I almost went blind in my left eye when I was a kid. When I was 19 years old, I had an myopia operation , during which I literally lost sight for a few seconds, so I was close to becoming a disabled person, and even felt their pain a little bit. Psychologically, as an adult, the fact that I'm good at nothing but painting is somewhat dysfunctional. My original idea was to let the child hold a paintbrush in his or her hand, which meant that even such a weak person would become powerful if he could draw. Afterwards, I thought that it should be related to technological innovation, so I replaced the paintbrush with a high-tech device in the shape of a watermelon hat. And the watermelon hat is because I had watermelon hair when I was a kid.
