ELYMA ACCECATO

La figura di Elyma accecato nel cartone degli arazzi di Raffaello è perfetta per la traduzione in vetro colorato. L'arte è profondamente legata al Cristianesimo e alla luce e il processo di creazione prevede anche un cartone. Elymas è accecato come un atto di Dio, tagliato fuori dalla luce e dalla vista. La figura isolata e la forte luce e le tenebre severe trasmettono questo cambiamento. Eppure è multisensoriale poiché l’opera si anima al tatto.

BLINDED ELYMA

The figure of the blinded Elymas in Raphael’s tapestry cartoon is perfect for translation into stained glass. The art is deeply linked to Christianity and light and the making process also involves a cartoon. Elymas is blinded as an act of God, cut off from light and sight. The single figure and stark light and dark convey this shift. Yet it is multi-sensory as the paint is raised to the touch.
